Tam talked about how, growing up, no one really spoke about the Indigenous side of the family but she always loved to draw and has drawn here, all the things she would like to know about her ancestors. The snake, represents the land, the flower – the river and water, the dancing man – the ceremonies.
Tam is from a cross-cultural background with Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal ancestors. Tam says she hasn’t known much about her background which is why her piece is called 'Searching.
